Welcome to SSE Guidance and Counseling
Types and Guidance and Counseling Provided:
Classroom Guidance
Regular guidance lessons are given in each classroom. Subjects vary based on classroom need (teacher requests), yearly activities (Red Ribbon Week), and school campaigns (Rachel's Challenge). Lessons include guidance for students regarding academic and personal/social issues.
Individual Counseling
Students may request to see the counselor at any time. Students will be informed about how to visit the counselor. Guidance is given to students based on individual need. The goal of the school counselor is to help students with personal issues so that they feel safe and are better able to learn in the classroom.
Group Counseling
Group Counseling may be offered throughout the school year. Groups are typically chosen based on input from staff when there is a specific need or issue. Typical groups include social skills, divorce, responsibility, and inattention.
Academic/Career Readiness
It is never too early for students to begin exploring career options. Guidance and information will be given regarding a variety of post-secondary options and careers.
Parent Resources
Parents are encouraged to contact the counselor with any concerns they may have. A variety of resources are available to help in many areas.
KC Club
NO ACT OF KINDNESS IS EVER WASTED
The KC Club is the Kindness and Compassion Club and is part of Rachel's Challenge. Rachel's Challenge is a way to promote kindness and compassion in students and to remind us all that all it takes are small acts of kindness to make a big difference in others' lives. We encourage students to "start a chain reaction" by passing on acts of kindness to each other.
